There are a few steps to do this: 1) set your radio to output IF instead of AF. But you can if you set your VFO B to use CW and then enable split! Thus you are able to decode CW with CW Skimmer and transmit. This is the only mode that does not insert a band pass filter which sets the IF output to the audio frequency band pass of the mode in use. It can provide a 12kHz bandwidth in IF mode if you set your radio to FM. To transmit, you can either use a hand key or a keyboard.Solved! Hi, The IC-7300 has the ability to output both audio or IF signals over the built in USB codec. You then tune to a frequency on your radio and the unit listens to the incoming CW and then displays the decoded text on the LCD screen. You hook the unit up to your radio's CW input/output. The unit is not a standalone transmitter and must be used in conjunction with a radio. ![]() So I thought that I would post them here in case anyone else wants to know (and yes, I went ahead and purchased the unit). UPDATE: I called the company that sells the MFJ 464 and got answers to my questions. It appears that all you have to do is connect a keyboard to the MFJ 464 and use it to type in your CW message, instead of using a key. The MFJ 464 has connections on the back, one for a keyboard, which is how I would like to use it for CW, while learning Morse. Would something like the MFJ 464 be connected to my radio through that jack? I own/use an ICOM 7300 and there are connections on the back, one specifically for a straight or paddle key or an electronic keyer via a 6.35 mm / 1/4 jack. How are one of these units used, exactly? Are they stand alone radio transmitters or do you have to run it through an HF radio?.(I own Ham Radio Deluxe which allows me to send/receive CW and a whole lot of digital modes, but I'm looking for an option that will allow me to send/receive/decode CW without using a computer software setup).īecause I am a total noob, I have never used one of these and have some basic questions that I hope readers here might provide answers for. I am interested in buying an MFJ 464 CW Keyer/Reader. r/WSJTX - Weak Signal Modes! /r/hamradio - Another amateur radio subreddit! r/parksontheair/ - POTA (Parks On The Air) r/amateursatellites/ - Satellite weather RX r/mursradio/ - related to the Multi-Use Radio Service in the USA. r/hamcasters - ham related youtube, podcasts and more r/hamdevs - Hardware/Software Development r/flexradiosystems - Flex Your SDR Muscles r/EmComm - Subreddit For Emergency Communications r/baofeng - Subreddit Dedicated to the Baofeng Radio r/hamitforward - Pay It Forward, ham radio style r/MMDVM - Multi Media Digital Voice Modem r/hamspots - Tell others about on air stations r/dmr - For the digitalest radio contacts r/amateurradio group on the Brandmeister network - TG 98003 - Listen Live - This talkgroup is bridged to AllStarLink node 48224 and Echolink node W5RI-L and on D-Star via XLX216 Module E Related Subreddits Have access to either DMR (on the Brandmeister Network), Echolink, Allstar or D-Star?
